Tracking Your Progress
During hepatitis C treatment, your doctor will periodically perform tests to monitor your progress. The main tests used to assess response to treatment will measure your virologic response (how much hepatitis C virus is in your blood), and histologic response (amount of inflammation in your liver). Your doctor will discuss these results with you. If you have any questions about what the numbers mean, be sure to ask him or her to explain them to you.
Since you will be undergoing tests over a period of time, it's a good idea to keep a record of them. This will allow you to see how the results change during the course of treatment. It may help keep you motivated during treatment, and it may be helpful to review your record with your doctor.
